Though employment cannot be guaranteed to all students in the CNSA and SE tracks, the department will attempt to facilitate the matching of students with jobs where they can gain appropriate experience while students.
For the CNSA track: The Department typically hires several students as part-time assistants in its own Systems Group, and has good relations with several other campus organizations that provide similar opportunities, such as the FAMU/FSU CoE, ACNS, and SCRI. Some of these jobs are part-time and some are full-time. Some part-time jobs qualify for full tuition waivers, and most full-time jobs entitle the worker to up to six credit hours of free tuition per semester.
For the SE track: The Department periodically receives requests for assistance in recruiting software developers, both for for-credit internships and for ordinary jobs. We pass this information on to students who are interested in employment. With a few exceptions, these jobs are usually outside the university and the State government, and so do not typically qualify for tuition waivers.
To apply for financial aid a student must fill out the Computer Science Department's Application for Admission and Assistantship or Fellowship.
